PANJIM: The State Cabinet has approved the draft bill imposing restriction on the sale of agriculture land in the State.
The draft ‘The Goa Restriction on Transfer of Agricultural Land Bill, 2023’, seeks to impose restrictions on the transfer of agricultural lands in the State to preserve and protect the land which is presently being used for cultivation of paddy.
This bill will be introduced passed in the upcoming Assembly Session starting from Monday, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The bill will effectively ban the sale of agricultural land to non-farmers from outside the State. Conversion of paddy fields to settlement land is also likely to be restricted through the bill, Sawant stated.
