Cabinet approves waste treatment plant at Cacora

283 Sports Dept staff given temporary status

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Monday cleared new Waste Treatment Plant at Cacora and also sanctioned expansion of Saligao waste plant.
Addressing media persons, post Cabinet meeting, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho informed that the proposals for new waste treatment plant were brought before the Cabinet which were cleared.
“The Cacora plant estimated at Rs 408 crore was cleared besides expansion of Saligao plant at Rs 180 crore was also approved,” he said.
He said further details of the plant are being worked out. “We have selected the agency and decided the process,” he added. 
Meanwhile, 283 staff of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Sports Authority of Goa will be given temporary status.
Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar said that this was a long pending demand which has been cleared by the Cabinet today. “As of now they will draw full salary and will be regularized in future,” he added.
Azgaonkar who is also the Tourism Minister said that he will retender beach cleaning contract if Finance Department raises any question. Only a single tender has been received, he informed.
