PANJIM: Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão ordained 12 deacons of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman as priests on April 29 and 30 at Se Cathedral, Old Goa. The ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey, was attended by clergy, family members, and well-wishers.
Most of the newly ordained priests pursued their initial formation at the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligao-Pilerne, before completing their Philosophical and Theological studies at the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol.
Fr Reuel Clyde Fernandes, hailing from Orel-Assolna, is the son of Romaldo Fernandes and Maria D’Souza. His regency took place in the Parish of Nuvem and at St Xavier’s Academy, Old Goa. As a deacon, he served the Parish of Nagoa (Bardez).
Fr Rayan D’Souza, son of Ligorio and Clarina D’Souza from Pale, Velsao, undertook his regency in Nuvem, Goa, and served the Calangute church as a deacon.
Fr Peter Tyson Gonsalves, from Candolim, is the son of Custodio and Lilia Gonsalves. He gained pastoral experience at Ambaulim and Nuvem parishes and served at Canacona Church during his diaconate ministry.
Fr Dezil Fernandes, son of Mateus and Paulina Fernandes from Betiabhatt, Ambaulim, engaged in regency in Nuvem and Caranzalem before serving as a deacon in the Parish of Panchwadi.
Fr Clifford Fernandes, son of Niquela Carvalho and Custodio Fernandes from Betiabhatt, Ambaulim, gained pastoral experiences in Nuvem and Caranzalem and served his diaconate ministry at Corgão.
Fr Warren Britto Pereira, from Gonsua, Betalbatim, is the son of Minguel and Wanyk Pereira. He gained pastoral experience at Ambaulim and Batim parishes and served at Candolim as a deacon.
Fr Boris Dias, son of Beatriz Severino and Benny Mount Dias from Panzorconim, Cuncolim, served in Ambaulim and Arambol during his ministry as a deacon and contributed to the Parish of Taleigao.
Fr Venancio Fernandes, second son of Adelino and Milagrina Fernandes from Arambol, had pastoral experience at Mandur and Ambaulim and served the parish of Varca as a deacon.
Fr Anthony Melvyn Gomes, son of Antonio Paixão and Maria Ivone Gomes from Chinchinnim, gained pastoral experience in Candolim and Ambaulim before serving his diaconate ministry in the parish of Sanvordem.
Fr Clive Agnelo Dias, hailing from Chinchinnim and son of Carlos Agapito and Olivia Dias, had pastoral experience in Candolim and Benaulim before his diaconate ministry at Santo Estevam.
Fr João Gonsalves from Goa Velha, son of Constancio and Piedade Gonsalves, gained pastoral experience in Nuvem and Caritas before serving as a deacon at Galgibaga.
Fr Joel Rodrigues, son of Guilherme Rodrigues and Rita Maria Fernandes from Dramapur, gained Pastoral experience in the parishes of Nuvem, Ambaulim, Chisda, and also in Caritas. He served as a deacon in Pomburpa.
The ordination ceremony marks the culmination of years of study, service, and dedication to the Church, as these 12 new priests embark on their journey of spiritual leadership and service to the community.
