MARGAO: The Carmona Panchayat inspected the Raheja work site and has confirmed that the developer has adhered to the stop work order. The Panchayat on Thursday surveyed the land and measured the access roads and other contours of the property. The Panchayat has decided to consult the legal advisor with the inspection.
Raheja representatives were also present at the inspection.
The Panchayat has alleged that the previous panchayat body had acted in a manner where the construction licence was given without referring to the important issues and documents of the property and application.
"The report of the inspection will be referred to the legal advisor and will be sought opinion on how to go about now," said acting Sarpanch Savita Mascarenhas.
"The Panchayat which is the local Government and is supreme according to the SC has to look into the Electricity power and water and also the road topics of the village and then pass the revised the land," said Socorro Miranda.
"This issue is of entire Goa and the TCP Department has to look into the gazette notification on how and on what basis it was issued because it has ramifications on entire Goa," said Venzy Viegas.
People at the site have alleged that the village had been taken for a ride by the old panchayat body and the village has to see this time because of them.
The Representative of the Rahejas the AVP Liaison Officer of Raheja Kamal Khemari said, "The High Court has said that we can continue the work. Can the stop work order of the panchayat and TCP be called a contempt of court is what we wonder but we have allowed as we don't mean to hurt the sentiments," said Kamal.
