MARGAO: Elections of Sarpanch for Carmona scheduled on Friday had to be postponed as there were no nominations, given the fact that only one panchayat member was present for the meeting while rest abstained.

Angelico Gracias who had come from the BDO’s office to conduct the elections said he had to postpone the same. He said he would submit his report to the BDO following which the future course of action will be decided.

It would be pertinent to point out that only four of the seven members of the panchayat would have been participating in the elections today, as there are two vacancies in Carmona, while a third panch is is on a long leave.
