PERNEM: Following the directives of the High Court of Bombay at Goa not to allow music beyond 10 pm, the Pernem Police on Sunday registered a case against a super high-end beach resort at Morjim for allegedly causing noise pollution by playing loud music and violating the court order.

According to someone who was present, the party went on till 2 am, way beyond the cut off time of 10 pm for any outdoor music.

As per the complaint, Pernem DySP Rajesh Kumar said that on Sunday at around 12.15 am, at Marbela Beach Resort, Morjim, the accused owner/manager of Marbela Beach Resort and organisers of the event at the resort organised a music event without obtaining permissions from the competent authority and thereby causing noise pollution and played music beyond permissible limits causing nuisance.

The case is registered under Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act 1986 and Contravention of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000.

PSI Harish Vaigankar is conducting the investigation under the guidance of Pernem PI Dattaram Raut and the supervision of DySP Rajesh Kumar.

When contacted, DySP Rajesh Kumar said, “We are here to implement the law in letter and spirit and we will act against anybody who fails to obey the law of the land.”

White party fails to see the light of the day at Morjim

A Landmark White Party was scheduled on the first Sunday of December at Morjim, which draws over 7,000 people with top DJs flown to the State to entertain revellers. This could not see the light of day after the police came down with an iron hand on the night parties in the State.
