PANJIM: Following Herald report on Rs 277 cr waiver to casinos on annual recurring fees, Ports Minister Michael Lobo clarified that the Cabinet has not cleared the proposal and has been kept pending.
"The cabinet discussed the matter at length and has decided to keep the issue of waiver of fees from April 2020 to October 2020 pending," he said.
The minister said that the Cabinet only decided that the casinos will pay annual recurring fees on monthly pro-rata basis.
"The operators have asked for waiver but it has not been cleared. The government may give the operators some time to pay," he said.
However, he admitted that the casinos have been allowed to start operations without paying the arrears pending final decision in the matter.
