PONDA:  The children of persons with disabilities (PwD), two other families from Mallarimoll-Kodlim along with social activist Rajan Ghate on Thursday demanded that the government provide them with jobs as compensation for using their property for the construction of roads without land acquisition and using the same for the past 31 years.

Ghate, who is fighting for justice to the families, alleged that the panchayat in 1989   falsely obtained signatures of these families for a no objection certificate and same was used even in 2010 and now in the year 2020 are using for the construction of roads, which is injustice done to these families.

Ghate demanded Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant look into the matter and provide justice to PwD, children of Gaonkar and Virdikar family in whose property the roads are constructed without land acquisition and not giving compensation.

Ghate further alleged that on October 8, the family of PwD were threatened by one local during the survey of their property by showing “koytha”. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the police. However, no action has been taken yet.

“I will stand behind the families to protect their land and even stage agitation if the government fails to probe the injustice done to these families by the panchayat in 1989,” he added.

The three families including PwD said without their consent several roads are constructed.
