Cover the open drains in the City

The Town And Country Planning, Public Works Department, City Corporation of Panaji must be well aware of the white washed and broken and uncovered drains cemented slabs that are used to cover city gutters.

Even the inner narrow road between St Tome Chapel and the main General Post office is in a dangerous state putting the lives of handicapped and senior citizens at risk. Another sight is how haphazard parking of two wheelers is opposite J.M.P. Dias Electrical shop. Almost every day there are minor accidents. What is the use if concerned authorities are not taking any interest and necessary action of these dangerous sites?

The situation is similar in Mala. After one takes a first left turn after crossing Ponte de Linhares slope coming from Mary Immaculate Conception Church road, the situation of the drainage system on the Luis de Menezes Road seems to be totally neglected for years together. I fail to understand why residents are so quiet and calm about it all.

Now it is learnt through social media that the Central Government has sanctioned and released crores of rupees through some newly formed schemes especially for the purpose of state development. So why not use these funds for covering all drainage system in cities, village panchayat areas and even in rural areas before the start of the monsoon season? The TCP, PWD and CCP and other concerned authorities should take interest and do the needful for the suffering people.
