Darbandora awaits treasury office after 6 years of formation

Even after the formation of the twelfth taluka of Goa, woes of residents in Darbandora taluka do not seem to end as it is without a treasury office for the past six years. While officials say the office may come up soon, sources reveal that since the office is likely to be situated in the new building that is still in under construction, the treasure office is unlikely to come up before the end of next year

SANGUEM: Darbandora taluka which came into existence six years ago is yet to be equipped with a treasury office.

The taluka, which is Goa's 12th taluka, officially come into existence on April 4, 2011 and comprises sixteen villages including Aglore, Moissal, Bandoli, Codli, Collem, Caranzol, Camarconda, Carmonem, Dharbandora, Mollem, Piliem, Sancordem, Sangod, Shigao, Sonauli , Surla   Usgao and Ganjem.

Except for two villages of Usgao and Ganjem all other villages previously came under the jurisdiction of Sanguem taluka.

In the absence of a treasury office, people are faced hardship in getting stamp papers, both judicial and non-judicial, court fee stamps and special adhesive stamps.

In the absence of treasury office, people are compelled to either go to Sanguem or the treasury office in Ponda, to buy the stamp papers, court fee stamps and the special adhesive stamps.

Incidentally, Darbandora taluka also lacks a designated stamp vendor, thereby making the situation all the more difficult and putting people under great hardship.

Ironically, the situation is made all the more worse with respect to cases where parties proceeding to execute deed of sale in the office of the sub registrar Darbandora  falls short of payment of stamp duty.

In such an eventuality even if the footfall is of minimal amount of Rs. 10, people are left with no alternative but either to return back home without execution of the document or travel back to Sanguem or Ponda to get the additional stamp papers or special adhesive stamps.

Speaking to this correspondent Darbandora mamlatdar Kuttikar informed that the government is already in the process of opening a treasury office in the taluka.

The communication with respect to the opening of the treasury office have reached the final stages, informed Kuttikar.

However, the treasury office in the taluka will not see the light of the day till the time the new government office complex, which is under construction, stands completed.

Sources informed that it will take at least one more year for the contractor to complete the construction work of the new administrative complex, which means the problems of Darbandora residents are far from over.
