Deplorable conditions of Panjim roads

The pitiable condition of the roads is causing considerable harm to the reputation and brand value of Goa, which is a tourist destination also. The potholes are not merely a nuisance. They can injure and kill people. 

The repairing of the potholes is very primitive in nature. Even there is no proper drainage system to avoid water logging on the roads. Some of the severely damaged roads in Panjim have been battered by the recent spells of heavy rains, causing much hardship to the commuters. This is a common scenario in every monsoons. 

The road condition is totally unmotorable after the rains. Before rains, no efforts are taken to clear the potholes. The motorists and other commuters are enduring untold sufferings. 

The potholes repair, needs a highly professional and holistic approach, as the road is potholed due to weak and improper insulation. Several parts of the city lacked 'no parking' and 'one way' signs, leading to confusion among the drivers.  Ironically, the name Panji or Ponji is said to mean the “land that never gets flooded” a fact that finds mention on the Smart City website.
