CANACONA: The contractor entrusted to construct a new building and repair the existing complex of Government Higher Secondary School in Canacona has left the civil works unfinished.

With the unfinished work and construction material strewn all around, parents are left worried about the safety of their wards studying in the institute.

A visit to the institution revealed that the contractor has abruptly stopped both the repair work and the construction of additional building. The road around the complex is laid with boulders, the gutter and the retaining wall is left incomplete, tilling job at the old complex is left halfway through.

Nilesh Paiginkar, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson said “Electric live wires are hanging in the class, lights and fans are defunct, construction steel is found strewn all around with dust pollution, all of these are putting everyone into inconvenience."

He urged the authorities to look into the grievances immediately inorder to eliminate risk to the life and the students can concentrate on their studies.
