Pedestrian crossings also known as ‘Zebra Crossings’ are present along busy roads to enable the pedestrians to cross the roads without any risk to life and limbs.

However at several places it is observed that there are obstructions to pedestrian crossings by way of road-dividers. Such obstructions to pedestrian crossings are seen along the road from Verna junction to Dabolim Airport.

Also near the casino jetty in Panjim and probably is the case at many places in the state. There is every possibility of the pedestrians, especially, senior citizens tripping and falling on the road while walking over these road dividers obstructing the pedestrian crossings with disastrous consequences.

The concerned authorities need to see to it that a gap is left open along the road-divider wherever there is a ‘Zebra Crossing’.
