Pathetic state of the sub-registrar’s office at Mapusa

I was at the sub registrar’s office at Mapusa recently. It is absolutely filthy with litter lying all over the place. One wonders what happens to the enormous amount of money that is collected at this office.

Apart from the litter lying all over the place there is not even basic facilities for people who come to have their jobs done. There are no washrooms, not sufficient sitting place and the clerks are as rude as you can have them. The road in front is so bad that walking is an effort not to mention the pot holes that resemble craters.

Why do they not hand over maintenance to private firms? See how well the malls, theatres and even Mumbai Airport is maintained by private players. The govt owes a certain amount of comfort to its citizens who voted it to power. People working in this office should learn how to be polite, specially to senior citizens who trudge up two flights of stairs as the lift is a show piece.
