People of Goa want good motorable roads

People of Goa want good motorable roads

If we drive from Pernem to Canacona with a four-wheeler or two-wheeler, we will notice more than ankle deep potholes filled with water during the rainy season, where it becomes difficult for the four-wheeler drivers to manoeuvre on these roads. Imagine how the two-wheeler riders will. This shows the pathetic condition of roads in Goa.

So many motorists have fractured their hands or legs and some of the accidents have been fatal due to this pathetic condition of roads not only on the highways but also village roads. If any person from the village with medical emergency is taken in an ambulance to the hospital imagine what will be the fate of that person, when we pay road tax to the government for using the roads.

It is the bounden duty of the government’s department, the Public Works Department, to provide motorable roads and not pothole-ridden roads in the entire State of Goa.

This shows how much the alleged corruption is prevailing between the contractors, Public Works Department and the concerned minister. Is there anybody to be held accountable and responsible? The answer is a flat no. The reason, we all know there is an alleged nexus between the PWD officials, contractors and politicians. If people of Goa cannot get motorable roads then the government should stop accepting road tax, because the money accumulated as road tax is to be spent to provide good motorable roads from the tax payers money but this a distant dream and there are chances of more number of people losing their lives every year.

Before the monsoons, there are no potholes and people think the government has done a good job but once the monsoon sets in entire Goan roads turn into death traps. Will the government take to task the people responsible for the pathetic roads condition of Goa?
