Save our environment

Save our environment

Citizen Ronnie D'Souza, Chandor

The plastic waste issue is increasing across Goa as we find such waste littered by the roadside, into the river, paddy fields and small canals. People dump their garbage anywhere they please. It is high time as the plastic menace has had its negative impact on the environment as our oceans are filled with plastic thus affecting the marine life. Do we know that when we dump garbage bags on the roadside many street dogs, cats and cattle feast on it and thereby even die by consuming such waste? The whole area begins to stink as we are forced to breathe polluted air, which affects our health with several diseases.  We should always carry a cotton bag while going to market, shopping complex etc and yes together we can make Goa garbage free. Remember "The people who make the biggest difference are the ones who do the little things consistently".

So we request all citizens of this country to try your level best and I request our State Government to do the rest. Each MLA should be serious about this ongoing garbage issue in Goa and should take steps to keep the state clean. Panchayats and municipalities should collect the garbage from time to time. State government should immediately solve the garbage problem by constructing a new garbage treatment plant on urgent basis keeping in mind the interest of the public who are suffering daily. I thank all the hard working workers in panchayat and municipal areas who clear the garbage in across Goa. I would request the civic bodies to proved safety mask and cloves to the workers collecting the garbage. Hope that the State government will solve the garbage issue at the earliest. Together we can make a better place to live in.
