Raw sewage water released by local residents flows into the open drains near the St Francis Xavier’s Chapel at Duler and raises a stink besides being a health hazard.
The drain is full of filth and dirt and has become a breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes besides posing a risk to motorists and pedestrians.
Funds are allotted by the government to every local body to carry out pre-monsoon work including construction and repairs of drains.
The officials concerned of the MMC should ensure that the residents immediately stop releasing raw sewage into the drains and cover the damaged drains before the onset of the monsoon so as to prevent outbreak of any disease.
