The local vendors, mainly women earn their livelihood by selling fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc, on the open footpath opposite Margao Police Station, near Multipurpose High School Borda, near Temple Fatorda, etc. They are doing their business all day in the open in broad sunlight and facing an onslaught of rains and rough weather conditions. They are selling produce grown in their fields, spending a full day and the other half toiling in fields for cultivation.
Sopo is collected from them daily without fail. There is neither encouragement for them nor efforts to provide proper shelter and designated places to sell their produce. When will the Councillor or local MLA take note of their plight and arrange for shelter and a designated place for selling local produce or continue in that condition to earn daily bread?
