Citizens find Vasco Pollution Board Office closed

MARGAO: Citizens of Vasco who visited the Pollution Control Board at Vasco to file their suggestions and objections for the public hearing of the proposed Petroleum Berth in October were dejected to see the office shut down.

The fault lies with the GSPCB because even though they have moved their office from Patto to Pilerne, they published a notification on the newspaper stating that concerned persons may file their views, suggestions, objections etc in their Patto office in Panjim.

One citizen activist of Vasco, Sanjay Redkar informed Herald that he has filed a complaint to GSPCB since it had taken many days to study the EIA report and prepare his submission. "I went today since I won't be in Goa for the next 10 days."

He said GSPCB has to issue another notification and apologise to the public for causing this inconvenience. He has also demanded the date of the hearing to be postponed.
