PANJIM: The pathology report of Sachin Venu Gopal Kurup, the 42-year-old from Pune, who faces culpable homicide charges following a reckless driving incident at a Vagator resort last month, has revealed that there was no presence of narcotic substances or alcohol in his blood samples.
“The report has been received and it has come out to be negative,” Mapusa Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jivba Dalvi told O Heraldo.
Earlier, the blood samples of Kurup for alcohol had come out to be negative. After the accused was arrested, his blood samples were sent to the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Verna, for alcohol and drugs substances tests respectively.
The accused, behind the wheel of a Haryana-registered SUV, collided with 57-year-old Remedia Mary Albuquerque, a resort owner, who was on the phone outside the reception area, resulting in her tragic death.
Two resort staff members, Shiv Mangal Dindo and Rupa Paras, sustained injuries in the same incident. The accused reportedly visited a friend at the resort when the collision occurred.
The SUV driver was remanded to four days in police custody, facing charges of committing culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and later remanded in 14-day judicial custody.
