PANJIM: Coal importers Vedanta, South West Port Limited and Adani have questioned the maintainability of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Goa Foundation and some Vasco residents seeking permanent closure of coal import and coal handling at Mormugao Port Trust.
During the hearing on Thursday, the companies submitted to the High Court of Bombay at Goa that the Appellate Administrative Tribunal or National Green Tribunal is the right authority to hear this petition. The court, however, granted liberty to the petitioners to amend the petition, filed in July this year.
