Mapusa: The residents of a private residential colony, in Colvale raised alarm over the suspected movements of persons allegedly breaking quarantine rules.

Locals alleged that this family, who also residents of the colony, recently returned from Bihar, their home State. When the locals inquired with one family member, they were allegedly informed that the family doesn’t have any travel permit or health certificate nor do they have any home quarantine stamps on their hands or house door.

Locals further alleged  that the family member denied having been checked for COVID-19 and had directly come to the colony.

They added that they approached the local health centre and police but the authorities concerned did not take any responsibility over the issue.  They further contacted the local MLA, who they say, instead of taking action, directed the people to contact the Deputy Collector.

Locals also alleged that the family members are freely moving in the vicinity of the place and since it is a residential area, there is possibility that if there is case of COVID-19 infection, it can spread amongst the locals.

“Ours is a residential colony and this family (who reside in the same colony) has come from Bihar, which is a red zone. They are freely moving in the colony, which is dangerous for us. We approached local authorities who did not take responsibility of the same. Our duty was to inform the authority but nobody helped us. We urge the Chief Minister not to allow any outsiders into the State without conducting proper check-ups,”” said the President of the colony.
