Says CM violated model code of conduct by inducting Sudin and Vijai

PANJIM:  The Congress has complained to the Election Commission of India (ECI) that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant violated the model code of conduct by inducting two deputy chief ministers.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Communication Department Convenor, Trajano D’Mello informed that he has written to ECI that “Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar and Vijai Sardesai have been designated as deputy chief ministers when the model code of conduct is in force and it is done solely for attracting votes.”

Demanding action against the induction, he stated, “The model code of conduct speaks at point 6(d) that ‘From the time elections are announced by the Commission, ministers and other authorities shall not make any ad hoc appointments in government, public undertakings etc which may have the effect of influencing the voters in favour of the party in power.”

Trajano has demanded that the induction be revoked and recalled.
