PANJIM: Days after Bombay High Court at Goa quashed and set aside appointments of 32 Assistant Data Entry Operators (ADEO) in the Electricity Department, the Congress  has demanded resignation of Minister Milind Naik, who was holding the portfolio in 2016.

Addressing the media persons, Youth Congress President Varad Mardolkar said that the posts are quashed since the selection criteria was not followed while preparing final list of selected candidates. The appointments were made in 2016. Total 56 candidates (32 general category and 24 reserved category) were selected from 9,627 applications received for the posts.

Mardolkar said that Naik, who was holding the Electricity Department in 2016, should be held accountable for the mess.

“Naik should resign as minister," he demanded. Naik is currently Minister for Urban Development and Social Welfare.

Mardolkar charged that Naik played with the lives of these 32 candidates, who will now be left jobless. The High Court has directed the government to prepare a fresh merit list and issue appointment orders to the 32 most meritorious candidates on or before January 31, 2021.
