PANJIM: The Congress is the only alternative to the misdeeds of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, said INDIA Bloc's North Goa Lok Sabha candidate Adv Ramakant Khalap during his campaigning.
Speaking on the Congress manifesto, Khalap said, “The Congress party is the only alternative to the misdeeds of the BJP government. Haath Badlega Halath. If you vote for the Congress, there will be a lot of improvement. We promise monetary assistance of those seeking jobs, for women and farmers. The farmers are agitating. The middlemen are taking away the profits of the farmers. Hence the farmers are seeking a minimum support price for their efforts. We are also promising a minimum wage.”
Khalap elucidated how the BJP destroyed a profit-making bank. “The BJP only destroys banks. They could not even restart the Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank,” he told O Heraldo.
The other Congress leaders hit out the BJP for accepting tainted legislators into their fold. Reacting to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement that he would reopen the file on the liquidated Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank of Goa Ltd, the Congress leaders claimed that he has all the documents. “The BJP indulges in the politics of blackmail. They have a washing machine to absolve persons who are tainted. First they intimidate them and then coerce them into joining the saffron party. You can see what happened to Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat. They thought that Khalap will also get intimidated,” a Congress leader said.
