Cong wants notification on Mhadei diverted  Kalasa-Bhandura project scrapped

PANJIM: On a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Goa to address an election rally, the opposition Congress demanded withdrawal of notification for approval given to Karnataka for Kalasa-Bhandura project.

In a series of tweets, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar said, “Goa is waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come to Goa today with a notification of withdrawal of approval given to Kalasa-Bhandura Project of Karnataka to divert water from Goa’s lifeline Mother Mhadei.”

He also said the State of Goa is waiting for the Prime Minister to declare scrapping of three linear projects which are causing environmental destruction.

“Goa is eagerly waiting for @PMOIndia @narendramodi today to declare Scrapping of Three Linear Projects which are causing Environmental Destruction & announce Mormugao Port will be Coal Free with immediate effect,” he said.

The Congress leader said the coastal is also waiting for the Prime Minister to make his stand clear on the massive land conversions taking place in the State.

“Goa is waiting for @PMOIndia @narendramodi to make his stand clear on the Massive Land Conversions taking place in Goa. @INCGoa Manifesto has promised Goans to impose restrictions on Land Conversions," he said.

He said the State is also waiting for the Prime Minister to bring letter of appointments of almost 1.20 lakh educated unemployed youth.

“Goa is anxiously waiting for @PMOIndia @narendramodi to bring today Letter of Appoitments of almost 1.20 Lakhs Goan Educated Unemployed Youths who are desperately waiting for a Job Opportunity,” he said.

Patkar said the Prime Minister should also bring with him a cheque of Rs 150 crore which is pending from the promised amount of Rs 300 crore for commemoration of 60 years of Liberation of Goa.

“Goans are waiting for @PMOIndia @narendramodi to come with a Cheque of ₹150 Crs which are pending from the promised amount of ₹300 Crs for Commemoration of 60 yrs of Liberation of Goa. If PM fails to bring the amount, hope @goacm @DrPramodPSawant will withdraw his Thanks to FM,” he said.
