PANJIM: The Congress Party will hold a “Sadbuddhi (good sense) Yatra” on Sunday, August 1 at Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s residence at Sanquelim at 5 pm, to pray for his mental health and enlighten him of his responsibilities as the CEO of the State.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) media department chairman Amarnath Panjikar said the “Sadbuddhi Yatra” will be led by party president Girish Chodankar and Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat. Party functionaries will carry flowers depicting gesture for Dr Sawant’s revival to come back into senses.

“We will also light candles to enlighten Dr Sawant of his responsibility as the Chief Minister of Goa,” Panjikar said.

According to Panjikar, the peaceful and non-violent “Sadbuddhi Yatra” is planned by the Congress in the interest of the State.

“We want the Chief Minister to act in responsible manner and understand that providing safety and security to the citizens is not only his responsibility but his prime duty. He has no right to continue as the Chief Minister if he expects the citizens and the children to take care of their own safety and security,” he said.

Recalling Law Minister Nilesh Cabral’s statement to make pre-wedding “counselling sessions” for the couples mandatory, Panjikar said it is high time that the BJP government arranges for “counselling” of the Chief Minister and his entire cabinet as well as the BJP functionaries to enlighten them of their constitutional and social responsibilities and train them how to protect, safeguard and respect the fundamental rights of the citizens.

Demanding public apology from the Chief Minister for his irresponsible statement holding the parents and children responsible for rapes in Goa, Panjikar said Dr Sawant must apologise for his failure to provide safety and security to the people of Goa.
