QUEPEM: Congress Block Committee President Manuel Colaco on Saturday disclosed that the party-backed panel will contest in all the 13 wards of Quepem Municipal Council elections.

This time, the Congress is facing a tough time in the Quepem Municipal Council elections, as present Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar had left the party and joined the BJP. Now, the whole scenario of Quepem politics is focused on the municipality areas.

Colaco informed that under the new panel, the party-backed candidates will contest in all the wards of the council.

“In some wards, the candidates are being pressurised to withdraw from the fray. Some are trying to horse-trade the candidates, but our candidates are firm and ready to contest,” he alleged.

“This time my ward has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes women. This is done to teach me a lesson. But I have decided to contest from Ward No. 9,” Colaco said.
