MARGAO: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to scrap the 80-room hotel project in Curtorim.

In a letter to the chief minister, the MLA stated that the hotel project would disturb the peace and tranquility of the village.

“This has reference to my five-year-old calling attention motion dated August 21, 2014 that the locals of Curtorim are worried, that the tranquility of the village would be disturbed, if the 80-room hotel project in Curtorim is given a NOC/permission by the government,” Reginaldo wrote.

“I had requested cancellation of the construction NOC/licence for the said project. Importantly, I had also mentioned on the floor of the House then, that we oppose this project along with my people (villagers) who are the residents of this peaceful village,” he pointed out.

“While ex-chief minister late Manohar Parrikar had assured me in the House that he would scrap it. Now, I have come to know from some sources that the department is helping the builder to restart the hotel project. Please direct the department not to give any permission for starting of the said hotel project,” Reginaldo requested.

“I request your authority to scrap the 80-room Curtorim Hotel Project in toto as my people are not happy with it because it would create imbalance in a peaceful village. Immediate and appropriate action may be taken,” he wrote.
