Congress alleges a minister in BJP cabinet involved in atrocities and rape against a woman
Goa Congress on Tuesday alleged that a minister in
the Pramod Sawant BJP Cabinet was involved in atrocities and rape against a
woman. Addressing a press conference, GPCC President Girish Chodankar said the
minister, whom he refused to name, was using his position to sexually exploit
the woman continuously. Congress gave Chief Minister Pramod Sawant 15 days to
sack the minister and set up an inquiry against him.
Elaborating further, Girish said a person had shown
him clips of video footage, audio chats and photos of the minister involved in
the acts. He claimed that a second person also showed him similar footage about
the minister, but both refused to share the content with him.
Girish also alleged that Chief Minister Pramod
Sawant knows about the videos and photos. Even when the minister does such
acts, he continues in the Cabinet, Girish added. He further alleged that the
Chief Minister has instead of sacking the minister searched such content, and
has tried to destroy it and he has even used the police to do so.
“When there are so many atrocities, the CM should
have called the minister and asked him to resign and if he refuses, he should
have sacked him,” Girish told a press conference.
Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress President Beena Naik
said ladies are not safe when there are such cabinet ministers. The CM is
trying to protect this minister who is allegedly involved in atrocities and
rape by removing(destroying) the videos, she alleged. She appealed to the CM to
immediately sack the minister involved. “He has created fear in the
constituency. He had earlier said that if you don’t support the BJP, I will
take action against you,”Beena alleged. If no action is taken against the
minister, we will come out on the roads, she warned the government.
Royla Fernandes said that earlier the govt was
raping the land, now the govt is raping the women.
