MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the absence of Congress’ national leaders in Goa for campaigning signifies the party’s lack of seriousness towards the Lok Sabha elections.

In addition to his critique of the Congress party's commitment, CM Sawant claimed that BJP's South Goa candidate, Pallavi Dempo, is poised to win by a margin exceeding 60,000 votes, while their North Goa candidate Sripad Naik, is anticipated to secure victory with a staggering margin surpassing 100,000 votes.

The Chief Minister, along with Dempo and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, besides several other leaders and workers held a rally at Margao, starting from Lohia Maidan. Later in the evening, a rally and corner meetings were also held in Fatorda constituency led by former MLA Damu Naik.

Addressing reporters, the Chief Minister again said that the absence of national leaders from the Congress, including President Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, in the State's campaigning efforts shows the Congress is not serious about the elections, suggesting they have conceded defeat. He called upon Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and INDIA bloc candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes to acknowledge this reality.

“Even during the Assembly elections in 2022, BJP was successful due to the work done in the State. Now people will elect both the BJP candidates with a large margin for their love for Modi. In Salcete taluka, it is history, when Congress would win votes. At that time, MLA Digambar Kamat was with Congress. However, he is now with BJP and BJP will get more votes even in Salcete,” said the CM.

“Congress party leaders are engaged in insulting the Constitution and freedom fighters and so, the people of Salcete and Goa need to teach them a lesson in these elections,” Sawant said.
