PANJIM: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Observer Prakash Rathod on Friday said that the Congress Party is ready to face the next Assembly elections anytime while people of Goa are fed up of the BJP government and will teach them a lesson at the hustings.

Speaking to media persons at the Congress House in city, Rathod claimed that the digital membership drive is going on in full swing and all senior party leaders and members of GPCC, District and Block are working towards registering record membership in Goa.

“We have discussed in detail and reviewed the ongoing digital membership drive in Goa. Although, there were some technical glitches due to poor network connectivity in Goa, We have now decided to go ahead aggressively with alternate arrangements to overcome the network connectivity issue,” he said.

Rathod said, “|Our AICC incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao has made it very clear that ‘Perform or Perish’ is the new mantra for Congress functionaries in Goa. Digital membership drive is to assess the capacity and capability of each leader from top to bottom. This drive is an opportunity to each one of them to show their leadership qualities.”

Stating that Goa is the only State in West India selected for the digital membership drive, Rathod said, “I am quite sure we will create history and enrol maximum members.”

According to Rathod, maximum 4,723 members have been enrolled by Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat.

Referring to poor network connectivity faced by the party’s “Janamitras” while digitally enrolling the members, Rathod said that the BJP government at the Centre is boasting about “Digital India” campaign, unfortunately the network connectivity in Goa is very poor. The BJP government in Goa must take up the matter with the Centre and ensure that entire Goa gets uninterrupted network connectivity.

Meanwhile, former Union Minister Eduardo Faleiro has been appointed as advisor of Congress Coordination Committee.

Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, Coordination Committee Chairman Ramakant Khalap, North Goa District Observer Mansoor Khan, South Goa District Observer Sunil Hanumannavar and GPCC Vice President M K Shaikh were also present.
