PANJIM: Congress on Thursday sought an inquiry into the alleged development of 77 plots in a No-Development Zone (NDZ) at Curca-Bambolim.

Addressing media persons, GPCC president Girish Chodankar alleged that TCP  has granted consent to a private party, to develop 77 plots in a NDZ, as identified in Regional Plan 2011.

Chodankar said  the project proponent was granted sanad for development of 17 plots   as per RP 2011. “However, subsequent scrapping of RP 2011, govt in an order issued had withdrawn all the sanads, granted as per the Act,” he said.

He added that the proponent moved fresh proposal for plot development in 2015, however the same was rejected being NDZ with steep slope and hilly area.

However, Chodankar pointed out that in 2020, TCP allegedly approved 77 plot development, despite objections having being raised, by the Committee appointed to clear applications under Section 16B.

“Even the Agriculture Department in its report had stated that there are several forest and fruit bearing trees,” he said, while adding that a large number of trees have allegedly been bulldozed with consent from the forest department.
