PONDA: Stating that Goa needs a Special Status to protect its land for future generations, Congress’ South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes on Wednesday urged Ponda voters not to fall prey to the false propaganda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Capt Viriato Fernandes along with INDIA Bloc leaders campaigned in the Ponda Market, bus stand, and met the vendors and locals.

Capt Viriato alleged that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are misleading the people and diverting issues to avoid questions on the problems faced by people.

He said that despite Ponda taluka having four ministers, they failed in the overall development of taluka due to which people are facing undue hardships.

He said Ponda Sub District Hospital lacks the necessary medical equipment and assured to upgrade it with CT scan facilities.

Earlier, he sought the blessings at Shree Zareshwar temple at Ponda Old Bus Stand.

Capt Viriato said he had served as a soldier of the country and knew the Constitution and needed no advice from BJP leaders.

Accusing both Modi and Sawant for twisting his statement on the Constitution, he dared both to speak on inflation, unemployment, on the assurances given in 2014 to restart mining and special status to Goa, unconstitutional defections in the Congress.

He held the BJP responsible for the hike in the prices of essential commodities which have been skyrocketing daily and called upon the masses to keep in mind the inflation and decide on voting.
