PANJIM: Even after three days, the mystery of the charred body which was found in Siolim in North Goa remains unsolved despite Goa Police’s special team's effort to decode the case and identify the victim.

“Nobody has come forward with any information so as to give the police any clue or tip off even as the cops have given out (some) information about the charred remains. We have verified the missing person complaints of the last six months but there is no match,” said Karthik Kashyap (IPS) Superintendent of Police North Goa.

He said the special team is trying to piece together information gathered to identify the victim.

Police have recovered some gold ornaments from the charred remains.

The post-mortem which was conducted at the forensic department of the Goa Medical College and Hospital has only given clues of the age and height of the deceased. Police said the victim (girl) was between 20 and 25 years and height was approximately 144 cm.

It may be recalled that charred body of a woman was found at Siolim village on May 12 which was burnt beyond recognition. The body was spotted near the bushes on the village's main road, which leads to Anjuna beach from Siolim.
