MARGAO: The Corruption Abolition Party (CAP) has voiced significant concerns regarding the procedure for loading election symbols onto Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at the South Goa District Collectorate office, calling for a fair and transparent polling process.

With the Lok Sabha elections in Goa drawing closer, the Election Commission is carrying out all necessary procedures, including loading party symbols onto Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). However, Sadanand Vaingankar, President of CAP, has alleged that the process lacks fairness. On Sunday, representatives from CAP and other political parties were present at the venue, raising concerns about the transparency of the procedure.

Vaingankar pointed out that despite strict instructions, many officials were observed carrying their mobile phones into the venue, which he claimed demonstrated a lack of seriousness towards the election process. Additionally, he alleged that incorrect programming was installed in the EVMs, further raising concerns about the integrity of the process. It was only after highlighting these issues that the Returning Officer instructed to restart the process.

Pushing for the proper implementation of the symbol loading unit, Vaingankar criticized the current system as inadequate. He also pointed out that government officials involved in the process are not adequately trained on the system, calling for the immediate intervention of the Election Commission to address these issues.

In response, government officials have assured that they have taken serious note of the que ries raised by the representatives of the political parties. They have pledged to ensure correct programming while loading the symbols on the EVMs.
