VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar on Saturday cordon off an open space in the heart of town by placing around green construction netting where the chief officer's bungalow is supposed to come.

“The area was slowly turning as a waste dumping zone,” claimed Councillor Salkar.

Speaking to Herald, he informed that the MMC used this open space for keeping their worn out trucks and other non-functioning machinery. There were people seen dumping dry and plastic wastes at this open space for many months. Considering the rainy season and last year’s dengue epidemic outbreak, decided to cordon off the space with green construction net. Salkar made an appeal to the people not to litter waste in open and use proper bins for disposal of waste.
