MARGAO: The levy collection and maintenance Contractor of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) will continue to be the contractor for another 30 days. The District Court has extended the temporary injunction, which was granted to the contractor in a civil suit he had filed against the SGPDA against his removal.

Milagres Fernandes, the contractor had filed an application at the District Court asking for injunctions and specific relief from his removal as the Levy Collection Contractor of the SGPDA.

He had contended that the SGPDA has given him the work on the condition that he collects the levy charges and maintains the market until tender is floated.  Earlier on October 1, The Court of the Civil Judge Junior Division had ordered that status quo be maintained with directions issued not to terminate the contract till the disposal of the application. The court had later granted a temporary injunction to the contractor in the matter till October 22.

On Thursday, when the case came up for hearing, the SGPDA sought 30 days' time to file their reply, by virtue of which, the temporary injunction has been extended.

Meanwhile, Malcolm Pereira has filed yet another application with the SGPDA for allotting him the work for the levy collection and maintenance of the Wholesale Fish Market of SGPDA, for which he has said that he would pay Rs 11 lakhs to the PDA after paying all the bills of power and cleaning the market too.
