Cuncolim: The tributary of river Sal passing through Cuncolim rose to dangerous levels during early Tuesday morning. The heavy rainfall over the last two days caused the water level to rise 5.59 meters,  around half a meter short of the maximum level of 6.2, at the WRD's water level monitoring station in Bhuisa Cuncolim.

High water level was also observed at Paira bandh. This low-head dam is used by people to cross over to the other side and is in need of maintenance. The guard rails are damaged which makes it difficult and dangerous to walk over.

Locals informed  the river had not been desilted in many years which is why the levels have been rising to danger levels frequently. They also informed Herald that the nulla in the main market area near the St Francis Xavier Chapel has not been cleaned due to the iron rods protruding on either side of the nulla walls. Herald inspected the site and confirmed that the nulla works which had started prior to 2012 has been left incomplete.
