MARGAO: Demanding a thorough investigation into Visionary Co-operative Credit Society scam, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday requested the Chief Minister to ensure that the depositors recover their money with due interest.
Reginaldo informed that he is keen to know the status of promised probe by the Chief Minister on the floor of the Goa Legislative Assembly to the Calling Attention Motion tabled by him in this year’s Budget session into the alleged Rs 39 crore scam by Visionary Co-operative Credit Society.
He asked the government to help the depositors recover their money deposited with Visionary Co-operative Credit Society and other State co-operative credit societies due to the gross illegalities by their managements and staff members.
"Thorough investigation has to be done and the culprits have to pay all the dues to the depositors along with the interest and justice should be given to common man as they have deposited their hard-earned money in the co-operative credit societies of Goa,” Reginaldo demanded.
"The depositors hailing from my constituency and other parts of Goa have been calling me almost every day to know the outcome of our Chief Minister’s probe as they have deposited their hard earned money in the branches of Visionary Co-operative Credit Society at Loutolim, Nuvem, Colva, Curtorim and Ramnagri,” Reginaldo informed.
“There has been no outcome for the past many years. How much recovery has been done from the Visionary Co-operative Society? What is the relief given to the affected depositors? Is there any report submitted by Registrar Co-operative Societies against the chairpersons? It seems that the Visionary Co-operative Credit Society has not followed bylaws which have been approved by RCS,” Reginaldo added.
