Curtorim legislator appeals people to  observe lockdown

MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco on Tuesday personally went around in a jeep appealing to the people for the voluntary lockdown in the Curtorim constituency, taking serious note of the rapidly increasing COVID cases.

On Monday he had appealed to the people of the Curtorim panchayat area. On Tuesday he went around full Raia village and Ilha de Rachol. 

Speaking to the media, Reginald said that he has appealed to the people not to come out unnecessarily from their houses as COVID positive cases are rising rapidly. 

"Today I personally went around in a jeep in Raia and Ilha de Rachol and tomorrow I will be going Camurlim village. I am pleading to people to please follow the norms. We have been hearing about the shortage of beds and oxygen in hospitals, Besides doctors and nurses are been tested positive. So it is my appeal to the people for self lockdown", he appealed. 

He also said everyone must take this as a responsibility to save their own family and others. 

Reginald further said that it is so sad that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant he going and checking about the oxygen level, wherein there are doctors saying there is a shortage of oxygen. 

"Tell the Prime Minister that there is no oxygen in Goa. I pleading to the CM shout out. If you can't I will shout out but let the PM know that there is no oxygen in Goa. People are going to die. I have told Chief Minister and Health Minister that people are cursing them", he stated. 

Reginald also requested the CM not to go to the oxygen plant and make a photo show. 

As informed by the sources soon after the announcement by MLA many shop owners from Curtorim and Raia pull-down shutters of their shops.
