PANJIM: There appear to be more issues with the digital meters that have been selected by the State government for installation in all taxis.
In a new case, a customer received a bill of close to Rs 43 lakh for a trip that covered a distance of Rs 2.7-km. This was highlighted by Parashar Pai Khot, Director of Operations at GoaMiles, the taxi aggregator service, in a tweet posted on Sunday.
“Customer was charged Rs 42,95,104.00 for a travel distance of 2.7-km only within Goa. Were these agencies selected in a hurry by the State Transport Department through tendering process?” he said.
Of course, both parties realised it was an error but it shows up the perils of the system, to the shock and horror of the paying public
