PANJIM: Following protests by the opposition Congress party over the non-payment of benefits under DSSY and Griha Aadhar schemes, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the payments would be regularised soon.

Sawant said the State spends Rs 47 crore on DSSY and Griha Aadhar every month. He said there are about 2.2 lakh beneficiaries of the Griha Adhar and DSSY schemes.

“DSSY scheme is availed by 1.368 lakh beneficiaries while Griha Aadhar scheme has 73,000-odd beneficiaries. The disbursement was affected during lockdown period and the same will be streamlined and regularised soon,” Sawant said.

Regarding the confusion on submission of life certificates and income certificate, the CM said that not all beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar and DSSY need to submit life and income certificates.

“Considering the pandemic, people need not rush to government offices to get the certificates,” he said, adding, “Not all are not required to submit the life and income certificate.”

He clarified that only those DSSY and the Griha Aadhar beneficiaries, who were not available during the survey or have received letters from the departments, have to submit documents.

He said that out of 2.2 lakh around 7,000 odd people who have received letters from the government regarding resubmission of documents have to submit them again.
