VASCO:  The Prospects of BJP ticket aspirant Krishna (Daji) Salkar joining BJP has hit a roadblock as the office bearers of Vasco BJP Mandal have raised their strong objections to any attempt of inducting Salkar into the party. It is rumored that Salkar would get a BJP ticket from the Vasco constituency as the party is likely to deny a ticket to incumbent MLA Carlos Almeida over his health issues.

In a formal letter signed by 12 office bearers of Vasco BJP Mandal including Mandal President Deepak Naik, General secretary’s Yatin Kamurlekar and Sandeep Narvekar along with Mahila President Devita Arolkar and others to Goa State BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, the office bearers have requested Tanavade to reconsider any decision to induct Salkar in the near future as this move will lower the morale of party workers and damage the prospects of the party in the forthcoming Assembly election in Vasco Constituency.

“Yes, it is true that we have sent letters to BJP president as we had got to know from our sources that state BJP leaders are in contact with Salkar. In our letter, we have mentioned important facts so that our party leaders understand our feelings by not inducting him into the party,” Vasco BJP Mandal General Sectetary Yatin Kamurlekar said

“Very importantly our hardworking karyakartas had managed to strengthen BJP’s position in Vasco, the results of which was seen in the recently held Mormugao Municipal Elections where we managed to win 9 out of 12 seats with a vote share of 50%. Salkar too had floated his panel against us to defeat our candidates. Similarly, Daji Salkar had left BJP only to contest against our candidate Carlos Almeida in the 2017 Assembly Elections. However, due to our hard work, Salkar lost against Almeida. Now he is trying hard to join the party and we have strong objections to the same,” said Kamurlekar.
