Dhirvem bags first prize

PANJIM: ‘Dhirvem’, a tiatr presented by Merxechim Porzollit Kirnnam, Merces, bagged the first prize of Rs 50,000, besides a citation and a rolling trophy for the best performance at the Kala Academy’s 3rd Tiatr ‘B’ group competition.

Tiatr ‘Ek Istor’ presented by Sushma Sawant Production, Sangolda, and tiatr ‘Fultem Ful’ presented by Pilernechim Motiam, Pilerne, bagged the second and third prize of Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. Tiatr ‘Dhol Mhojea Bai’ presented by St Francis Xavier Club of Portais, Panjim, won the consolation prize of Rs 20,000.   

The other individual prizes are as follows: Best Script: Fr Joseph Rodrigues (first place), Fr Milagres Dias (second place); Best Direction: Shreyash Kalangutkar (first place), Rajesh Kundaikar (second place), Samir Gadekar (third place); Best Acting (male): Casiano D’Souza (first place), Sandesh Naik Matodkar (second place); Best Acting (female): Antonet de Souza (first place), Bliss Fernandes (second place); Best comedian: Shekhar Usgaonkar; Best comedienne: Megan Fernandes; Best child artiste (male): Flenon Pereira; Best child artiste (female): Rohima Lobo; Best setting: Stevan Almeida; Best light effects: Domnic D’Costa; Best music: Theo Alvares, Dexter Furtado, Amaro Fernandes, John Fernandes and Cannon D’Souza; Best make-up: Fermino Goes; Best costumes: Nithya Rodrigues; Best background music: Wilbur Rebello; Best singer (Male): George Gonsalves (first place), Hashvaine Fernandes (second place); Best singer (Female): Vanessa Diniz e Vaz (first place), Joliza Fernandes (second place).

The judges for the tiatr competition were Michael Gracias, Osvy Viegas and Jerry D’Souza, while the tiatr scripts were judged by Cezar D’Mello.  

Velim MLA, Benjamin Silva, who was the chief guest, distributed the prizes to the winners. Tiatr Academy Goa president, Agostinho Temudo and other members of Kala Academy were also present on the occasion.
