MARGAO: Locals from the village of Chinchinim, Panzorconi and Cuncolim town are upset over the disruption in water supply for the last three days and the failure on the part of authorities to restore the water supply.
It may be recalled that a few days back a container truck had fallen into a rivulet by the side of the national highway in Cuncolim. This area is known as Uskini bundh and there is a major pipeline that supplies water to parts of Cuncolim and surrounding areas namely Chinchinim.
During the accident involving the truck, this pipeline got damaged and for the last three days, there has been no water supply to these areas.
“When we tried to complain to the authorities, the PWD, we were told that the staff cannot come and attend to this issue as they are busy with election duty. That means the locals will have to continue to go without a water supply?” asked Gerson Gomes from Chinchinim.
The locals from Cuncolim and Chinchinim have urged the State government and PWD Minister to look into this issue at the earliest and try and restore their water supply by Wednesday itself and to not make them wait for a longer period as they are presently facing a lot of inconveniences.
