Vasco: The laid off staff of the Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL) are wary over the hide and seek in liquidation of assets of the firm. The workers have warned of blocking any further movement of assets liquidation if the appointed liquidator fails to give details of the share of the monies due to the workers during the liquidation process.

The laid off staff of the WISL met the liquidator Om Prakash Kanungo to convey their warning to the WISL and the persons undertaking the process. The Union Leader of the WISL Ajit Singh Rane said the shipyard has been shut down illegally. The Government has not done anything regarding the illegal closure of the WISL. Now the Government has a appointed a liquidator and it is the duty of the liquidator to work neutrally as far as settling of different claims by means of selling of different assets" said Rane.

"The PF component of the workers has been released. But the Liquidator has told that the major part of the claim has been only admitted and not settled. The proceedings are yet to be held in this matter and this has created unrest among the workers due to lack of transparency" said Ajit Singh Rane.

The angry workers have decided not to cooperate with the Government and completely stall the liquidation process of the WISL. To add to the fire, the Liquidator Om Prakash Kanungo said that when the liquidation happens 80% of the money will go to the bank and the remaining will be given for workers settlements if the hearings complete. "The in solvency is settled first in the process and then the workers are settled as per process. However not one rupee has been received yet from the liquidation" he told.

The workers have threatened agitation if the Government doesn't do justice to their demands.
