Drugs, liquor worth Rs 16.66 cr seized in Goa since start of Code of Conduct

PANJIM: The enforcement agencies have seized drugs, liquor and freebies worth Rs 16.66 crore in Goa after imposition of election Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

According to an official statement, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized drugs worth Rs 54. 6 lakh. The drugs which were seized included Methamphetamine 532 grams, Cannabis crop 500 grams, Ganja 10 grams.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) made a seizure of 293.44 litres of liquor worth Rs 71,572 while Goa Customs made a seizure of 549 grams of gold worth Rs 3,25,579 and Thuraya Satallite Phone worth Rs 76,488.

Excise Department seized 62,949.094 litres of liquor worth Rs 3.43 crore. Income Tax Department seized Rs 4.6 crore cash and precious metal weighing 3,968.09 grams worth Rs 3.03 crore. 

Police Department seized a cash of Rs 9,07,315, 30,546.78 litres of liquor worth Rs 74,40,435, 49.316 gms of drugs worth Rs 2.46 crore and 78 mobile phones worth approximately Rs 5 lakh.

Commercial Tax (State Goods and Service Tax) Department made seizure of 1,39,909 items of freebies worth Rs 1.35 crore.

The total seizures were made between a period of March 16, 2024, and April 22, 2024, were 16,65,52,572.
