CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police have registered an offence in connection to the drug overdose case and have booked three persons including the victim Sara Khan, her friend Dr Abhishek Vikram Singh (40) of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and an unknown drug peddler.
Sara Khan (32) from Delhi and Dr Abhishek Vikram Singh are booked for allegedly consuming drugs (contravention of provisions of the NDPS Act).
The police stated that the male friend of the victim failed to give timely medical support to Sara thereby endangering her life.
According to police, the accused drug peddler provided drugs to the victim near the compound of the Lumina By The Beach club located at Vagator where the victim along with her friend had gone to party.
The drug is suspected to be cocaine which was in form of a tablet. Both Sara and Vikram had consumed a tablet each.
Police insiders informed that after consuming the tablet (drug) at the club, Sara complained of uneasiness. She then returned to her hotel. After reaching her room, she started vomiting. She was then taken to near Primary Health Centre, Candolim and later to a high-end hospital in Dona Paula where she is undergoing medical treatment.
Police Inspector Calangute informed that during the course of the investigation they learnt that the male friend of the victim failed to give timely medical support to Sara thereby endangering her life.
However, Dr Abhishek Vikram Singh’s statement on this, if any, is yet unknown.
“We have registered an offense under Section 21(a) & 27 of NDPS Act 1985 & Section 336 IPC against an unknown person (drug peddler) for supplying (sale) drugs and the victim and her male friend for consuming the drug. The investigation in the case is undergoing”, Calangute PI Dattaguru Sawant said.
