Dry garbage catches fire near KTC stand

MARGAO: Fire broke out in the heaps of dry garbage dumped on a piece of land near the KTC bus stand in Marago on Saturday. Margao citizens, who rushed to the spot,  pointed out that this is the same land where land filling using recycled waste had taken place by the previous body of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC).

Due to ongoing sewerage related works, the Fire Brigade truck had difficulty accessing the area and the lock on the gate had to be cut and barricades removed.

While the fire brigade doused the fire, they said they needed mud to be dumped on the garbage to prevent further incidents.
